The Brilliant Club
Get training and work as a tutor in the The Brilliant Club, which is an award-winning university access charity. They provide PhDs and ECRs training in widening participation, research communication and teaching. Researchers are then paid to deliver programmes to small groups of pupils in state schools across the UK, with the aim to support their access to the most competitive universities and succeed when they get there. You can find more information and apply on their website.
Thrive: Helping you realise your potential
Thrive is a new women’s in-person development programme, designed to help you grow in confidence and develop your resilience and sense of agency. If you sign up, you can also work with a mentor to support you through your personal development journey. Thrive is open to both undergraduate and postgraduate students who identify as a woman or non-binary person, studying any subject. Places are limited to just 30 per programme. View the available dates and sign up here.
Volunteering
Volunteering can be a hugely rewarding experience and a way to engage with communities and give back. Warwick Volunteers provide information about volunteering, plus a wide array of opportunities that you can get involved in. One example is Coventry Open Christmas, a local charity that supports the homeless and lonely. They are seeking volunteers during the five days and nights they stay open over the holiday period, to help serve drinks and interact with the service users.
