Hello Jemima
As you will know from the latest Government announcement on the roadmap, some of you studying on practical courses are able to return to face to face teaching as part of your blended learning experience. It goes without saying that we’re very pleased to have you back.
For all other students, we are not permitted to offer in-person teaching until the third phase of the Government roadmap – on or around 17 May – please see the letter to students from the Universities Minister. We cannot understand the Government rationale for this and know how deeply disappointing this will be for many of you. It does not seem to recognise the importance of in-person provision for the wellbeing and mental health of students, or the list of other sectors allowed to resume in-person activities, such as shops and gyms. Please have no doubt that we will continue to provide excellent online learning and support for you.
Your academic department will continue to liaise with you on learning and assessment plans (online and otherwise) until that date, and we will keep you informed of any changes.
The shape of your term 3
We know that face-to-face engagement opportunities, networking and on-campus services can help you to study effectively and are important to your wellbeing and mental health. Now that individuals are free to travel in the UK at least, we’re therefore confirming what is available on campus to help you to decide whether returning to your term time address is best for you to make the most of the opportunities to support your learning.
In line with Government guidance, by the start of term 3, there will be a Warwick Presents programme, we’ll share details closer to the start of term. Dwell spaces, the library and study spaces are open to you, and retail, cafes and sport facilities will be open again.
Working in partnership with local authorities and public health, we’re confident in the effectiveness of the safety measures that we have put in place on campus – including regular testing, social distancing, enhanced cleaning and use of face coverings.
If you choose to return, please remind yourself of our community responsibilities. You will also need to take a lateral flow test before you travel, and book lateral flow tests at our site on campus on your return. For more information, read our FAQ about lateral flow testing. Home testing kits should also be available to universities to provide to students from May.
As always, if you need support, please don’t hesitate to get in touch with Wellbeing Support Services whether you are on campus or away.
We have added FAQs on the Easter vacation and Term 3 page and will continue to update this page with the latest guidance.
Best wishes,
Warwick Student Communications Team
