Hi everyone, and welcome back to your Doctoral College newsletter. We're excited to announce that the new Eatwise Test Kitchen will be opening in University House from Monday, so be sure to check it out. There are plenty of exciting events happening soon, including a PG arts and crafts session, new Researcher Development sessions in March, and our Ahead Together conference, where you'll have the opportunity to contribute to Warwick's new Education and Student Experience Strategy.

Test Kitchen

University House Café is being transformed – from 26 February, it becomes the Eatwise Test Kitchen! Think vibrant, nutritious, inspiring Eatwise dishes, offered before they’re rolled out across other outlets on campus. Find out more and view the sample menu.

Ahead Together

You're invited to help kickstart the development of our new Education and Student Experience Strategy, by attending an interactive conference on 29 February. At the event, a series of keynotes and workshops will connect our learning from activity in 2022/23 to the new strategy. Places are limited, so register to attend today.



 

Get involved


The Brilliant Club

This is an opportunity to get training and work as a tutor in The Brilliant Club, which is an award-winning university access charity. They provide PhDs and ECRs training in widening participation, research communication, and teaching. Researchers are then paid to deliver programmes to small groups of pupils in state schools across the UK, to support their access to the most competitive universities and succeed when they get there. Research Culture Sandpit 

Could your idea improve research culture at Warwick? We warmly welcome PGRs with an idea to improve research culture to take part in our next wave of enhancing research culture funding. We are delighted to invite you to our upcoming Research Culture Sandpit event, taking place on 27 February, 12:30-1:30pm at the Oculus (room 0.04). Places are limited, so please register your interest to attend

PG connections arts and crafts

Arts & Crafts Social

Join us at The Graduate for an arts and crafts social as part of the PG Connections campaign, led by Vaishnavi (VP Postgraduate Officer). This is a great opportunity to socialise with other postgraduate students, follow a painting workshop, and eat delicious food on 11 March, 5-7pm.

Thesis Submission:
All things you must not forget to do

Are you due to submit your thesis in the next six months? If so, then this online session on 19 March, 2-3pm, is for you. It’s a short presentation followed by a Q&A session where you can make sure you are ready to submit. We can answer any queries you may have.

Dimensions of Police Research: A Showcase of
Early Career Research

Applications are welcomed from early career researchers in the interdisciplinary field of policing, and especially encouraged from postgraduate students and early career researchers affiliated with the ESRC MGS DTP. Join us on 10 May from 10am-5pm in S0.20, Social Sciences Building.

Conference of Multimodality
in Early Interactions

‘CoMEIn’ for ECRs is a one-day interdisciplinary conference that aims to provide a platform for PhD students and post-doctoral researchers to share their findings, insights and unique perspectives on the role of multimodality in early caregiver-child interactions, and how this may shape communicative development in the early years. Register your attendance for the conference on 18 April.

Researcher Development:
Sessions in March

Join the Researcher Development tutors for some in-person sessions in March, held in the Research Exchange, with an opportunity to work on your professional development and meet other PGRs. The sessions will cover: Creativity in Research, Intercultural Training for PGRs, Active Listening for Interviewing, and Creating Positive Working Relationships.

This free conference from 26-27 April offers a dynamic and engaging environment for PGRs to present and discuss their research. It's open to researchers at all stages of their programme and welcomes presenters from a variety of disciplines, whose research and experiences of research connect with education in its broadest sense.
