Hello Jemima
We hope you’ve enjoyed your Easter break. We are looking forward to welcoming you back to term 3 next week. Last week, we shared an update on term 3 following the latest government announcement. We let you know what’s available on campus to help you decide whether being at your term time accommodation is best for you to be able to make the most of opportunities to support your learning.
Today we have an update on the rent waiver and are also letting you know what we’ll be sharing with you next week.
Rent waiver update
We hope you will have been able to make informed decisions about whether to return to your term-time accommodation or not, considering study arrangements for your course and access to campus services, facilities and extra-curricular activities. At this point:
On Campus Accommodation rent waiver update 23 April
We can confirm that we are extending the current accommodation rent waiver up to 23 April 2021 for students who were eligible for the previous rent waivers up to the 9 April 2021 but still wish to return to their on campus accommodation from the 24 April 2021.
Alternatively these eligible students (who have not occupied their accommodation since the 9 January 2021) will be given the option to be released from their accommodation contract from the 10 April 2021 which is when the latest rent waiver ended, if they do not wish to return to their on campus accommodation before the end of their accommodation contract.
In addition to this, there will be a new rent waiver available for all students who are not currently living in their on campus accommodation from 24 April to 14 May 2021, regardless of whether they have applied for previous rent waivers or not. Please note the University will not be offering further waivers for the period after 14 May.

Off Campus Accommodation rent waiver update 23 April
We recently announced that the University will make a rent credit available to eligible students for term 2 (9 January to 9 April 2021), for which students will soon be able to apply. We can confirm that we are further extending these credit options up to 14 May 2021 for eligible students who want to apply but still wish to return to their Warwick managed off campus accommodation at some point in term 3. Please note the University will not be offering further waivers for periods after 14 May.
Alternatively students who have not occupied their Warwick managed off campus accommodation since 9 January 2021 will be given the option to apply for a rent credit from the 9 January 2021 to the end of their existing Tenancy Agreement, if they have not occupied at any point during this period and they do not wish to return to their Warwick Managed off campus accommodation before the end of their Tenancy Agreement. Any credit received will not alter the terms of, or the obligations under, the existing Tenancy Agreement and students will remain liable for all other costs associated with their accommodation; these are not covered within the credit as you are not being released from your Tenancy Agreement.

We will contact eligible students week commencing 26 April with more information including the application deadline, so please check your Warwick email address for further updates on how to apply for one of these options.
Thank you for your patience as we work through the processes to facilitate this. We will share more information with you by email about how to apply w/c 26 April and won’t be able to respond to direct enquiries on this before then.
