Hello Jemima

The University recently announced that it would be extending the current accommodation rent waiver up to 23 April 2021 for students who were eligible for the previous rent waivers up to 9 April 2021, but still wish to return to their on campus accommodation after 24 April 2021. If you did not return to campus on or between 10 April 2021 and 23 April 2021 you can apply for this extension by filling out the rent waiver application form.
 
Eligible students (who have not occupied their accommodation since 9 January 2021) will be given the option to be released from their accommodation contract from 10 April 2021 which is when the latest rent waiver ended; if they do not wish to return to their on campus accommodation before the end of their accommodation contract.

In addition to this, there will be a new rent waiver available for all students who are not currently living in their on campus accommodation from 24 April 2021 up to and including 14 May 2021, regardless of whether they have applied for previous rent waivers or not. Please note that the University will not be offering further waivers for the period after 14 May 2021.

 

Our records indicate that you have applied for, and are in receipt of, the previous rent waivers from 9 January 2021 to 9 April 2021. This means that you are eligible for the above options. You will, therefore be able to apply for one of the below options;

White Bullet no background Rent waiver extension option 2: To be released from your accommodation contract from 10 April 2021 for the remainder of your current on campus accommodation contract.


The University will also be offering an additional one-off rent waiver (option 3) for those students who returned home for the Easter Vacation and are now unable to travel back to their accommodation, regardless of whether they are eligible for one of the above options or not.

Students who have not occupied their rooms between the dates of 24 April 2021 and 14 May 2021 will be able to apply for this one-off rent waiver via the application form. If you have selected option 2 above, then you do not need to apply for this as the dates are already covered within this option. However, if you have selected option 1 you need to also apply for option 3, if you are eligible, as this credit will not be applied automatically.

Please note that if you have since returned to your on campus accommodation, there is no partial rent waiver option. You are only able to apply for rent waivers within the stated options above and so you must select the appropriate option that is reflective of your personal circumstance. For example, if you returned to your accommodation on 24 April 2021 but since left again, you can apply for option 1 only.

How do I apply for the extended rent waiver?  

Please read the terms and conditions and FAQs very carefully and if you are eligible for one of the options, you may apply via the our web form by the deadline 13 May 2021.  
 
We have tried to anticipate any questions you may have and have answered them in the FAQs; while you may have specific queries, please check the FAQs before making direct contact as you could find your question is already answered.  
 
We expect a large volume of requests for the rent waiver and would appreciate your patience while we process the credits; please do not contact us for an update on your credit. Our aim is to apply the credits by the end of term 3.
