Hello Student,

Welcome to the start of term, we hope you're settling in well. We have a wide range of opportunities this autumn from careers to study abroad, skills development to volunteering and more. Keep up to date with us via our newsletters and our Instagram, and explore myAdvantage to browse and book the events on offer.
 

Autumn Careers Fair

Attend the largest careers event of the term on Thursday 10 October, 11am - 4pm, Rootes Building and meet 80 high-profile recruiters across a range of sectors and organisations who have graduate and placement opportunities. The WorkReady Work Experience team will also be at the fair, providing guidance on how to secure and undertake work experience. ​​​​​​Find out more

If you are unsure what to expect at the careers fair, and would like to access support beforehand, book onto the How to prepare for a careers fair to learn how to make the most of the fair. If you’re a Widening Participation student, you can join the WAIP pre-fair meet-up to attend the fair with other students.

Get ahead

This term, we’ll be highlighting events and opportunities that could help you get ahead – whether you’re a final year student considering your next steps after graduation, or a first year looking to dive in and make new connections, develop skills and take opportunities.

VolunteerFest

During this week-long festival, Monday 14 October to Friday 18 October, learn about the wide range of volunteering opportunities available through Warwick Volunteers, and talk to students already taking part. Volunteering is a great way to give back to the community, develop your skills and meet new people.

Intercultural Training Workshops

These workshops help you to better understand, communicate and build effective relationships with those from different cultural backgrounds. There are a variety of workshops available throughout the autumn term for you to choose from.

Meet the Professionals: Careers in Government and the Public Sector

Representatives from organisations working in government and the public sector will deliver a series of presentations on Wednesday 9 October, 6pm, providing you insight into working in this sector. Following this, there will be an opportunity for questions and networking with the speakers.

Warwick Advance Internship Programme (WAIP)

If you're a Widening Participation student, join WAIP to access and apply for paid internships, placements and work experience and have access to support, resources and events. Find out more and join

Warwick Award

The award recognises the skills you develop through a range of activities including academic modules, societies, internships and more, and helps you develop these so you can apply them after graduation. There are Virtual Guidance sessions from 1-2pm every Thursday during term time, where the team can guide you through the registration process and answer your questions. Find out more and register

Thrive

An interactive, in-person programme where you will hear from inspirational speakers and can work with a mentor to support you with your personal development and can help you increase your self-awareness and confidence. This programme is for you if you identify as a woman or non-binary. Learn more and sign up

Intercultural Communication Module

Launching this term, the new IATL module 'Intercultural Communication in Theory and in Practice' is available to second year and final year undergraduate students. In this module you will study intercultural theories whilst also developing your intercultural skills. Find out more

In this interactive workshop on Wednesday 9 October, 2-3.30pm, gain tips and practise techniques to assist you in becoming a more confident and effective networker, to use at career and employer events. Book your spot

Next Steps - The 10,000 Interns Foundation

In this online session on Tuesday 8 October, 3-4pm, learn about The 10,000 Interns Foundation, who champion underrepresented talent. Find out about the application process for their internship programme. This session is for students who are enrolled in the Warwick Advance Internship Programme (WAIP).  Learn more

Global Careers Insight Series

If you're interested in a international careers, attend this Insight Series and hear from employers in Hong Kong, SE Asia and Asia. They will be giving 20-minute presentations across three mornings on 15, 16 and 17 October between 8-10am. Each day is split by region, with Day 1 in Hong Kong, Day 2 in SE Asia and Day 3 in Asia.
