Update: Alternative
Exams Portal (AEP)
Some of you may have previously used Warwick’s online assessment platform called AEP – the Alternative Exams Portal. It was built during COVID-19 for students to take their exams online. Since then, we have found alternative platforms for exams, including the Warwick Assessment System (WAS), that provide more functionality. The AEP has therefore been decommissioned, and references to the system (including on webpages) are currently being worked through to be removed. Please ignore any references you see to the AEP in the meantime – always check your timetable to ensure you know where all your exams are being held.

Travel alert:
A46 closure near Kenilworth
Plan your journey to the University carefully due to the A46 closure near Kenilworth. The closure period is between 8pm on Friday 11 April to 6am on Thursday 1 May, with lane restrictions in place until 31 July. Expect potential delays, especially with ongoing HS2 construction. Check alternative routes, follow the signs for diversions (don't rely on Sat Nav), and always allow extra travel time. Find out more here.

When you submit work through online assessment systems such as WAS, you will be asked to tick a box declaring that you have read and understood the University’s regulations with regards to academic integrity. The declaration includes reference to the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI), such as ChatGPT.
You can read more about the academic integrity framework here and access useful resources on our Celebrating Academic Integrity pages.

|
You will have the option to take a trial exam ahead of your online exams so that you can familiarise yourself with the assessment system you will be using. We strongly recommend that you make use of the trial assessment opportunities.
Trial exams will be available in WAS at least two weeks before the start of the exam period. You will receive an email from the system and hear from your department when the trials are ready.

Your study checklist
Exams and assessments can feel overwhelming, but the right preparation makes all the difference:
📅 Plan ahead: Structure your revision with a clear timetable.
💧 Look after yourself: Take regular breaks, sleep well, and eat healthy, balanced meals.
📄 Practice always helps: Review past papers and take trial exams to get familiar with exam formats.
📍 Know your seat number, exam time, and location: Avoid any last-minute stress. Exam venues can be found on the campus maps and exam venues webpage.

Your in-person exam checklist
|
All exam venues can be found on the campus maps and exam venues webpage. It’s important to be aware of the rules in place to ensure a smooth experience for everyone. All exam venues are silent zones, so please always remain quiet. Remember to:
📌 Arrive early: Aim to be at the venue at least 20 minutes before your exam starts to allow time for check-in and finding your seat.
📌 Respect fellow students: Exams may have different finishing times, so if you finish early, please leave the venue in silence.
📌 Reading timing rules: Some exams include reading time. If yours doesn’t, you must wait outside in silence until an invigilator allows you to enter.
📌 Stick to your seat: Always sit in your assigned seat as per your personal timetable. Sitting in the wrong place could lead to mix-ups with attendance or exam papers.
📌 Switch off devices: All mobile phones, smartwatches, and other electronic devices must be switched off and placed in a clear plastic bag before entering the exam hall.
📌 Listen to instructions: Pay close attention to the invigilator's announcements. They will provide important details about the exam process.
📌 Raise your hand for assistance: If you have a question or need help during the exam, raise your hand and wait for an invigilator. Do not communicate with other students.
📌 Know what you can take into your exam: Information around bag storage and permitted items can be found on the permitted items and bag storage webpage.
