We hope you're having a lovely Thursday! We have lots of opportunities to share with you today including our Festival of Freedom taking place at Warwick Arts Centre! Read our 5 questions with WBS student Benjamin as part of our focus on academic integrity. Become a paid postgraduate mentor

The Library is looking for individuals to join its group of engaged and enthusiastic mentors who will draw on their experience of postgraduate life to provide peer-to-peer guidance and support to current students in a group setting. Find out more about the role and how to apply.

PGR Tea(chers)

Are you a postgraduate who teaches? Share your experiences with other postgrads on the Postgraduate Teachers Channel on Teams on 1 December 3pm-3:45pm. Come along to take part in peer discussions, share tips, experiences and advice on teaching.

Take a break from research and chat to other PGRs over some fresh coffee, snacks and games! Join the PG Hub for Research Refresh, every Thursday, 10:30am-12pm in the Wolfson Research Exchange.

Share your views and enter to win a £200 Amazon voucher!

Help shape your learning experience by sharing your views on learning and teaching over term 1. Together with input from SSLC reps and the SU, your feedback will help your department to understand what works well and what could be adapted for next term. The survey won't take any more than 10 minutes to complete and once you've completed the questions you'll be entered into our prize draw to win a £200 Amazon voucher just before Christmas! Take the survey.

Thinking of further study after you graduate? Join a Postgraduate Virtual open day, choosing from all our academic departments, on 1 and 4 December. Listen in on academic sessions such as sample lectures, seminars and Q&As, sessions on how to apply, and chat with current students. Find out more and book for an open day.

Festive celebrations on campus

Celebrating Chanukah - join us on Monday 29 November at 5.15pm near Benefactors Place for 'Lighting of the Chanukah Lights’.

Christmas Tree Light Switch On - Wednesday 1 December 3pm-6pm
Come to Benefactors Plaza to enjoy Christmas festivities and the switch on of the Christmas Tree lights on the plaza, and outside the NAIC building. There will be food and drink outlets with Christmassy treats, a choir, our Brass Society playing Christmas tunes, photo opportunities with our live reindeer and a special guest to help with the switch on! We're also looking for you to record a message or send a text that can be shared on the Big Screen - submit your message.

Kindness on campus - share your nominations 

To celebrate World Kindness Day, our Community Values Education Programme wants you to share your stories of acts of kindness and nominate the students or staff you think deserve a Kindness on Campus award. Even small acts have the power to overcome differences, break down prejudice, and bring us closer together as a community. Share your nominations by 6pm on 30 November and the winners will be announced in week 10. Find out more and nominate someone.

Commonwealth Games 2022 - Warwick to host training 

This week, we’re so pleased to confirm we’ve been chosen to provide world-class training facilities for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games, as well hosting an athletes' village. Find out more about the run up to the games.

Drug-detection dog at SU events 

In an additional response to the concerns raised by students over the threat of drink-spiking, the SU will be working with a specialised passive drug-detection dog over the course of the end of term. Read more.

Student Opportunity and Events

Leave it in the ground - post-COP26 reflections

Join an interactive session on 2 December where we will reflect on COP26, consider the issues raised and the progress of climate negotiations made. Professor Mike Bradshaw and Dr Caroline Kuzemko will talk about the complex politics of global and national energy transitions and discuss accelerating sustainable change towards cleaner and more equitable alternatives. The presentation will be followed by Q&A section with participants. Register now.

Feelings of Freedom Festival - book free tickets

Challenging thinking and beliefs through a programme of expert speakers, artists and thinkers, this series of talks and events from expert speakers re-examines how freedom is experienced and understood; its value and its cost; and the contested nature and significance of freedoms over time and space. Get tickets for events from the festival taking place today and tomorrow (24 and 25 November).
