Hello Student

I'm writing to wish you a joyful, restful and happy holiday break.

What a different first term we have enjoyed in contrast to last year. It has been really inspiring to see campus open again with academic and social opportunities and events taking place, and our community getting back to its vibrant best.
On Thursday we shared an update following the latest government COVID-19 announcement. As we look ahead to term 2, in line with the DfE guidance, blended teaching and learning and assessments will continue as planned by your department.

This term Warwick Presents events have allowed us to make the most of campus. I know many of you enjoyed our fire garden, food markets and film nights on the piazza, and ! I hope you've been able to visit our fantastic new spaces on campus too - our transformed Warwick Arts Centre, the refurbished Library and, just this week, the spectacular Faculty of Arts Building.

We've reached the end of the academic term but we have lots going on to keep you busy and safe if you're staying on campus over the vacation. Read and make use of the Christmas at Warwick website which has information on campus opening times, wellbeing support and lots of festive, free and fun events. The Chaplaincy Lounge will be open each day during the vacation, including Christmas Day. The Library will also be open every day except Christmas day (25 December).

Thank you to all of you who have taken part in various opportunities for dialogue this term as we have continued to work with you to improve and adapt our blended learning and teaching experience. A great way to recognise the teachers who have inspired you this term is to nominate them for one of our prestigious teaching excellence accolades - you can nominate for our WATE awards from now until February.

If you're traveling over the holidays, please do
take a lateral flow test before you make your journey. You can book symptomatic or asymptomatic tests on campus or at local centre in Coventry or Leamington/WarwickshireIf you test positive and live on campus, you can use your accommodation for self-isolation as long as you need, provided you have a contract for the full year. Please let us know if you test positiveIf you're travelling internationally over the vacation, check testing and isolation requirements for your intended destination. And if you've not been vaccinated yet, you can book through our campus health centre or at local drop in centres.

My best wishes again for the vacation. I look forward to welcoming you back to campus, or welcoming you for the first time if you've not been able to be here with us yet, in January.
