Hello Student,

Welcome back to term 2 at Warwick, we hope you had a lovely break. If you're joining us in person or on campus for the first time - welcome!

Read on for new COVID-19 guidance on campus, book an hour's skating on our campus ice rink and find out what's on at the Warwick Arts Centre. We have fantastic development opportunities too: take our Active Bystander course and develop the skills to challenge unacceptable behaviour. Or, take a leap and nominate yourself for an SU Officer position in the spring elections!

Campus and Community

New safety guidance in teaching and learning spaces

In line with Department for Education guidance, you’re now required to wear a face covering when moving around indoor spaces and when seated in research, teaching, study and exam spaces (unless you have a valid exemption). Check the full guidance for face coverings on campus.

Other safety guidance testing

If you test positive for Covid-19 at any time, you should stay home to isolate, complete this form and let your academic department know. If you experience any Covid-19 symptoms, no matter how mild, you should self-isolate immediately and book a PCR test on campus or at a local site. If you use a local NHS site and test positive, please let us know.

Everyone should continue to take twice-weekly lateral flow tests during term 2. You can collect lateral flow testing kits on campus or order a home testing kit. Please also book your Covid-19 vaccinations, whether that’s your first or second vaccination, or a booster jab. There are drop-in vaccination clinics in Coventry and Warwickshire or you can book through the National Booking Service.

Warwick Presents - ice rink!

From tomorrow (11) until 24 January, you can enjoy a fortnight of skating right here on campus! Come and enjoy an hour of skating on our synthetic ice rink in Benefactors Place, and enjoy a hot drink and pizza before or after, or both! !

Warwick Arts Centre - exhibitions, Workshop Wednesdays and £5 cinema tickets!

Did you know we have our own art gallery at the Warwick Arts Centre on campus? Well now you do! The gallery has been refurbished and reopens on Thursday of this week (13 January). Currently exhibiting in the space is the beautiful 'Dappled Light' by internationally recognised artist Rana Begum. Rana explores the perception of light and colour through vibrant paintings, sculptures, and installations. Find out more and go along to check out this new work.

You can also join local artists every Wednesday this term at Warwick Arts Centre to create or make something on themes including wellbeing and exchanging cultures. All materials will be provided for these first come, first served Workshop Wednesdays events and there's no need to book.

And start the term with a trip to our own on-campus cinema, also at the Warwick Arts Centre. Students can get £5 cinema tickets - perfect for a January treat.

Whether you're starting your course this week, joining us on campus for the first time, or returning from the Christmas vacation, settle into term 2 with our Spring Welcome events running all week. We have a film-making competition, cook off challenge, the Spring Term Welcome Fair where you can find out about Warwick's services, support and opportunities... and many more.

Nominate yourself to be an SU Officer next year

The SU's annual Spring Officer Elections are underway and you can now nominate yourself to become an SU officer next year. Student Officers lead your Union and look after different aspects of the student experience, or represent particular groups of students, to ensure that everyone's voice is heard and acted upon. We have 7 full-time Officers which are paid full-time roles, plus part-time Officers which are voluntary positions. Find out more about each role, nominate yourself or contact the Democracy Team for more information.

Best wishes,
