Hello Jemima
There is a lot happening as we near the end of term so we wanted to summarise the key things you need to be aware this week including:
Testing and departures
Self-isolation support
Local tiers from 2 December and arrangements at Warwick
Warwick Presents Christmas programme
January start of term guidance
Book your test
Testing opened yesterday and many of you have already booked your slots – thank you for helping us keep our families and communities safe.
If you haven’t booked your tests yet, please go to Booking Information.
Most of the testing is taking place at The Slate from 8am to 8pm now until Sunday 6 December. Limited testing will happen from 7 – 15 December from 10am – 4pm to cover staff and students who have face to face teaching in week 10.
Book your departure slot
If you’re on campus and safe to travel back to your destination for the Christmas vacation, don’t forget to book your departure slot too.
Self-isolation support
If you receive a positive result on either your first or second asymptomatic test, you must self-isolate for 10 days immediately before you can travel safely. This is a legal requirement.
There is the possibility of getting a false positive result so if you receive a positive test result you need to book a confirmatory PCR test to make sure the result is correct. You can do this at any testing site but the University does provide the facility on campus, which you can book on the University Test and Trace site. You are allowed to break self-isolation to attend a PCR test.
You can find full details on what to do if you get a positive result on our site.
We know self-isolation can be challenging. We have listened to your feedback so that we can ensure that you are well supported during this period. If you are based on campus, we will offer you the option to complete your self-isolation in our conference centre accommodation.

Local tiers from 2 December and arrangements at Warwick
You will have seen that Coventry and Warwickshire is moving into Tier 3 from 2 December when national restrictions end. This means:
no mixing of kitchen groups/households inside or outdoors
you can meet in groups of six in outdoor public spaces
campus cafes, bars and restaurants will provide a takeaway service only. Online ordering is also available through CampusEats
outdoor exercise can continue in line with appropriate Covid safety requirements, as can indoor sport like the gym and swimming, but other indoors exercise can only be with others in the same kitchen groups/households
This will be reviewed on 16 December. Please make sure you are familiar with the new guidelines and act responsibly.
Warwick Presents Christmas Programme
We have lots of students staying with us in the local area over the winter break and there will be a full programme of events and activities to entertain you and keep you feeling connected and supported. Don’t forget to tell us where you are planning to be over the Christmas vacation so we can keep you updated.
Thank you to those of you who have already let us know, it’s not too late for you to share your Christmas vacation plans.
We will be signposting our Christmas vacation provision on our dedicated pages: Christmas on campus | Warwick Presents
January start of term guidance
We are still waiting for further guidance from government on students return in January. We will share more information as soon we receive it from government.
Please act responsibly
There are just two weeks now until the end of term and as we approach the Christmas break, it’s important we remain a responsible community. It’s crucial that you follow the guidance to reduce the potential spread of the virus.
Thank you for keeping our community safe.
