Hello Student

Happy New Year and welcome back to Warwick, I hope you enjoyed a restful vacation. Welcome to you if you’re joining us on campus for the first time. Whether you're starting your course, on campus for the first time, or returning from the Christmas vacation, settle in with our Spring Welcome events running all week.

As always, your safety and that of our whole community is our top priority. You’re now required to wear a face covering in research, teaching, study and exam spaces (unless you have a valid exemption). You can read our full guidance for face coverings here.

We’re asking everyone to continue to take twice-weekly lateral flow tests during term 2 and if you’re experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms, no matter how mild, you should self-isolate immediately and book a PCR test on campus or at a local site. If you use a local NHS site and test positive, please let us know. Please book your Covid-19 vaccinations, whether that’s your first or second vaccination, or a booster jab as we look to keep our community safe over the coming months.

Please do follow this: it is a really important way that we can all work together to keep our campus open.

As we start the new year, your feedback, as ever, is invaluable to us. Please keep the dialogue going and let us know what you like and what we could improve, through the likes of the National Student Survey for final-year students in February, the Warwick Accommodation Student Satisfaction Survey later this month and via your Student Staff Liaison Committees and via module evaluations throughout the term. You can also recognise the teachers who inspire you by nominating them for one of our prestigious teaching excellence accolades - you can nominate for our WATE awards until February.

This term we have some exciting and free Warwick Presents events for you to enjoy, including an ice rink right here on our campus, rock up and play sport opportunities, and things to do on campus and in the local area. We’re adding more events all the time, so do check the Warwick Presents webpages to see what you can get involved with next! Our own art gallery at the Warwick Arts Centre on campus has been refurbished and reopens on Thursday. Find some time in your day to pop by and take in Dappled Light – an exhibition by internationally recognised artist Rana Begum exploring the perception of light and colour – it’s fantastic.

I’d like to wish you all the best for a happy and successful Term 2. If you have exams, best of luck. If you need it, or if your friends or course mates need it, please explore the support options available from our Wellbeing Support Services team or your personal tutor.

With best wishes,
