Hello Student

Following the recent government update on changes to Covid-19 self-isolation guidance, we are sharing an update about what this means at Warwick.

Self-isolation

The government has announced it will be removing the legal requirement to isolate from Thursday 24 February. At Warwick, we will continue to strongly recommend that you self-isolate if you have symptoms of Covid-19 or test positive. This will be in place until the end of term 2.

As we’re strongly recommending that you self-isolate if you test positive or have symptoms, you will not be required to attend in-person teaching, alternative arrangements will be made for you. We have made this decision to keep you, fellow students and staff members safe, and to ensure we can continue to deliver the face-to-face teaching that we know from your feedback, is invaluable for your learning experience.

What to do if you test positive

If you have a positive test at our Test and Trace facility on campus, we will inform your Head of Department that you are positive and when you are able to return to campus (if you are no longer unwell). If you test positive off campus (on a PCR or lateral flow test), please let us know so that we can inform your Head of Department. In both cases, we advise that you contact your Personal Tutor just to be sure.

Keep testing and wearing a face covering

We all need to do our bit and look out for those around us by continuing to do twice-weekly lateral flow tests (even if you’re vaccinated) to help reduce transmission of the virus.

It’s also important to keep following guidance around face coverings. As a reminder, this means you’re required to wear a face covering at all times in teaching, research and study spaces. See the full guidance.

While it may seem like we’re taking a cautious approach, we believe continuing with these safety measure until the end of term 2 will mean you, and the rest of our community can have a safe and enjoyable experience on campus and make most of the last few weeks of term. We really appreciate your continued support.

Best wishes,
