Good afternoon everyone! We're pleased to bring you another takeover from the Library! Watch a short video about the newsletter from the student writers:
|
“As Term 2 is coming to a close, and the prospect of a restriction-free vacation comes tantalisingly close, the Library might not be on the top of your mind. But come next term when exam season starts, our Library will be a hive of activity as we frantically pore over our notes (or finally start making them as we realise that, already, two terms have gone by). Regardless of where you stand, our Library has something to support you. In this newsletter learn how to access other Libraries if you’re away from campus for Easter Break, and have all your referencing questions answered. Plus, read an interview with our Library Associates - fellow students who’ve volunteered to help make our Library better.
As always, let us know how we did and what you’d like to see next.”

More Books: Diversify your Library by Luke Holloway
The ‘More Books’ scheme is coming back, and this time its goal is to ensure the Library collections represent Warwick’s diverse student community. From the start of term, you will be invited to recommend an inspiring book that isn’t held by the Library and perhaps doesn’t typically feature in academic reading lists. Look out for the campaign on the Library’s social media and the upcoming displays in the new ‘Breathing Space’ room – and get thinking over the vacation! Read more about the ‘More Books: Diversifying the Collections’ scheme.

Library Manners – being responsible citizens by Liam Velani
We are all one Library community, working together to have a wonderful time. So, what can you do, to make your experience and those around you even better? Remembering these tips will help all of us:
Move your bags out of the walkways, to avoid any injuries
√ Please also refrain from using or bringing your eScooter inside the Library.
√ Our Library can be many things: a study space, a space to talk, and a space to relax... but it is not a playground. Want to run around and let off steam? Take a look at the campus walking routes or head to the Claycroft activity zone.
Always remove your belongings, when not using your desk
√ Need somewhere to store your belongings while you’re on campus? The Students’ Union offers a locker rental service. If you need somewhere to securely store your laptop, phone or tablet, the Oculus building offers free charging lockers, accessible to all with only a student card.
Never consume hot food within the buildings
√ We all love a cheeky takeaway here and there, but please consume all hot foods outside of the Library.
√ Pro tip: if the Library Café is full, or if you would like to grab a quick bite at night, the Chemistry concourse is right opposite of the Library, and has tables and seating for you to use.
No society posters or flyers – however beautiful they may be!
√ Please refrain from placing society stickers within Library spaces, including the elevators!
End any calls you may be on, and limit any noise.
√ Look out for the new phone booths on Floor 1, where you can freely take calls without disturbing anyone
√ Even if you’re in a zone which allows phone calls, be aware of the study needs of others around you.
Respect your fellow students, who are often busy working
Say hello to the Library staff. They are all very nice! |
Annnnnd... that's a wrap!
With the bulk of Term 2 now behind us, and vacation drawing closer, we wish you a happy Easter. Come exam time, we at the Library will be here to support you, serving not just as a home for sleep-deprived students, but also as a hub of knowledge (and for panicked students who need referencing support, or for those that just need the printers). Remember, send us any feedback or questions that you may have, or even to say hi!
Cheers for a great term! |
Best wishes,
