Hello Student,

Happy Thursday everyone! Read on to see how you can join the Warwick Award Pilot and how to look after yourself during exam season. We have details of a few changes to campus as we celebrate our graduates and host a Commonwealth Games Athletes' Village this summer. And get a free victoria sponge baking kit to mark the Jubilee!

Summer event preparations

Commonwealth Games

At the start of term we let you know that we’ve been chosen to host a Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games Athletes’ Village over the summer, and we’ll also be co-hosting the International Children's Games.

As part our preparations for the Commonwealth Games, there will be an accreditation zone in operation on campus from 14 July – 11 August which will consist of a secure perimeter fence around certain buildings on campusFrom mid-June we will start work preparing the Accreditation Zone, it will be fully operational from 14 July.

Once the zone is in operation, access within the accreditation zone will be controlled at all times and only accessible to authorised personnel and those with accreditation passes. Once the accreditation zone has been completed (14 July), students in some areas of central campus will need to use alternative walking routes to access their residence and campus facilities. We will be in touch with more information soon.

We will also facilitate alternative departure arrangements for students from some of the residences on campus that will have limited vehicle access due to the location of the accreditation zone. Students living in these residences will receive more information from the Accommodation team in the coming weeks.

Graduation Celebrations

In July, in addition to degree congregations for this summer’s graduates, we’ll also be hosting Warwick Celebrates, a graduation celebration for our graduates who missed the chance to celebrate the completion of their degrees during the pandemic.

Preparations will also shortly begin for graduation celebrations, starting with a temporary Igloo structure being built on Cryfield Village car park for the Warwick Celebrates event from 9 June. This means that the car park will be temporarily closed from 9 June until mid-August. You can see details for alternative car parks during this time.

We will keep you updated throughout term 3.

Alternative Exams Portal (AEP) - temporary issue on Monday 16 May

We’re aware that some of our students were temporarily unable to access the Alternative Exam Portal (AEP) on Monday morning. Our IT team has completed a full investigation and concluded that this temporary outage was as a result of a manual restart that took longer to complete than planned. There are no other planned AEP manual interventions scheduled over the remaining exam period, so this was an unfortunate but isolated incident. We would like to reassure all students that we’ve looked into the issue and are confident that this will not happen again.

We appreciate that the exam period is a challenging time, so we apologise to those students who were impacted and wish you all the best of luck for upcoming exams and assessments. For any queries relating to online or in-person exams, have a read of our FAQs.

Mitigating circumstances for assessments and exams

We support you to succeed with a number of options based on your personal circumstances when it comes to sitting assessments and exams. Mitigating circumstances are unforeseen circumstances which are outside your control and have a detrimental effect on your studies. Find out more about your options, inlcuding submitting mitigating circumstances, deferral and self-certification.
