Hello Test

A hearty ‘Welcome back’ to Warwick! I hope that, like me, you’re ready for another year of those wonderful experiences that come with being a part of the Warwick community.

Reflecting on the summer

Before looking ahead to this term, I would like to reflect upon and celebrate all that has happened on campus this summer and the achievements within our community. We hosted an athletes' village for the Commonwealth Games on campus and co-hosted the International Children’s Games. We were delighted to celebrate the success of Warwick Alumnae, Kare Adenegan and Sarah- Jane Perry at the Commonwealth Games. We celebrated the achievements of this year’s Outstanding Student Contribution Award Winners at Degree Congregations - hear from some of this year’s winners. Your University has also ranked in the top ten in this year’s The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023 and in The Guardian. I’ve only highlighted here a few of our successes as a community and I look forward to seeing what more we can achieve together this year.

Support with the cost of living

Now onto this term, something that will be a priority throughout the term, and academic year, is supporting you with the cost of living. We know that managing finances is not a new issue for students, but with the national rise in costs, it’s essential that we ensure you are supported and able to make the most of student life at Warwick. We have created a hub on MyWarwick that includes practical information and details about our teams who are here to support you. We are looking at more ways that we can support you and will closely monitor the situation to make sure we are doing everything we can.

Let's keep the dialogue going

To make sure that we are doing all we can to help you have the best experience possible, we will keep listening to you. In this year’s National Student Survey (NSS), we were pleased to be ranked first in the Russell Group for Student Voice and hope this demonstrates that we listen to and value your feedback here at Warwick. Whether that’s feedback on your course, your accommodation, social activities, your wellbeing, or anything in between. You can talk with your course reps, who represent you on the Student Staff Liaison Committee, and take part in our surveys throughout the year. You can also become a member of our student panel – for every focus group or interview you complete, we offer Amazon vouchers and prize draws for your time.

Play your part in the Institutional Teaching and Learning Review (ITLR)

This year, you can also help us to make a real difference to education at Warwick by signing up to take an active role in the Institutional Teaching and Learning Review (ITLR). ITLR happens every five years and its purpose is to ensure education at Warwick remains high quality and that your experience keeps improving. This is your chance to help shape the future of education at Warwick as well as develop your knowledge, skills, and connections – find out more about how to get involved on the ITLR website.

Supporting you

Whether you’ve thought a lot about your wellbeing or mental health, or never really taken the time to do so, Wellbeing and Student Support provide a range of options that can help you to develop the personal resources and skills you need to navigate the challenges and opportunities of student life. Consultations are available via the Wellbeing Portal or by dropping in on the ground floor of Senate House. And, your personal tutor will be on hand if you need to talk anything through where your studies are concerned.

We don’t tolerate harassment or unacceptable behaviour of any kind at Warwick, and all in our community have the right to feel safe. If you witness or experience any unacceptable behaviours, please report them in confidence through our reporting tool Report + Support. We also have an active bystander training course so you can equip yourself with the skills to appropriately react to and challenge inappropriate behaviour – you can sign up on the website.

With best wishes for the year ahead,
