Hello Pgt

This week we have an important update on Industrial Action. Please read on for the Library Language Exchange and pop-up Sustainability Stands across campus. We also have guidance on staying safe in your accommodation, and Fish Finger Friday continues tomorrow!

Industrial action

The UCU has called a further 18 days of strike action throughout February and March. A day of strike action is to take place on 1 February 2023. At this stage no further dates have been communicated. The prospect of a marking and assessment boycott has also been raised as a potential component of Action Short of a Strike (ASOS) later this term. With this news in mind, further guidance has been made available on the student industrial action hub covering these areas. Students wishing to ask questions or raise any concerns are asked to contact their departmental admin team in the first instance.

Understanding Wellbeing Module

This HEAR Accredited module guides you to discover and better understand the crucial concept of wellbeing, exploring it through the lenses of many different disciplines (from Biology to Philosophy, from Economics to the Arts). We also engage with activities and strategies that can improve our wellbeing, from physical exercise and art to mindfulness and many others. We look at what factors might be affecting our wellbeing such as social media, emotions, and dealing with failure. The module has been co-created by IATL staff and students to make sure that it can be accessible to all and work around University life. Find out more here.

Staying safe in your accommodation

As we begin a new term, we just wanted to share a few reminders to help keep us all safe on campus and within residencies. Check out our advice and guidance on how to play your part. If you are unsure about someone, please don’t challenge them but phone Community Safety on 024 7652 2222 as soon as you can.

Kindness on Campus Award Winners

We'd like to congratulate all nominees of the Kindness on Campus Award, and in particular, the winners! Well done to Navneet Khangura (WBS), our student award winner, and Brian O'Leary (Estates), our staff award winner. Thank you to all involved and those who took the time to nominate someone for their acts of kindness. See more about the winners and commended here.
